Medical Student Research Day

Medical Student Research Day is an annual Spring event that allows medical students to present their research work in a formalized setting, either as a Poster or as an Oral Communication. This event is a venue for students to present research work that has been performed prior to or during their tenure in Medical School. There is no restriction on where the research has been performed, i.e. U.F. or another Institution. Please note that M.D./Ph.D. students are welcome to participate in Medical Student Research Day. However, they will not be eligible for the awards unless the research presented is unrelated to their Ph.D. dissertation research. Presentations are judged by a faculty panel, and students compete for one of the following prizes:

  • Two awards from The American Medical Association-Educational Research Foundation

  • Two awards from The Lawrence M. Goodman Trust (Research Track students only)

  • The John Harrington Tanous award from the Watson Clinic (Lakeland) for research in Cancer

  • The Alpha Omega Alpha award

This event was held on March 21, 2005.  Questions concerning Research Day should be addressed to Dr. Colin Sumners or to Pat Siter at 392-0034.  Names of the 2005 and previous Research Day prize winners can be found at the links below.
